HOT SPRINGS - Cutter Morning Star lives up to its name as it uses a cutting-edge way of recognizing high school seniors’ career commitments. According to Adam Stage, CMS High School Counselor, “Whether a student chooses to go to college, a trade school, or enter the workforce, the school’s belief is that every path is honorable and worthy of celebration.”  Colleges, trade schools, and employers will be at the Signing Day congratulating each senior as they sign their college and career letters of intent.

Letters of Intent
Superintendent, Dr. Nancy Anderson stated, “We have some students signing letters of intent to go to college on academic and/or athletic scholarships, some going to a two-year and some going to a four-year institution of higher learning, trade school, and going straight to the workforce.  It is our goal that every graduating senior has a life plan. There are a lot of paths in life and we guide our students toward the right one for them.
Governor Hutchinson’s Ready for Life Initiative
“We follow Governor Hutchinson’s ‘Ready for Life’ initiative to engage a whole-of-community approach, to include our high school, employers, colleges, and trade schools to increase employment opportunities.” Anderson said, “Our Signing Day shows we are part of an education-to-employment program. We want our students to be successful, and success does not look the same for all. Our job, in partnership with students, parents, and guardians to make sure they are prepared.”
Mindshift in Education
“There has been a mindset shift in education. In the past there was a large focus on getting students prepared for college, but today we have shifted the focus to preparing students for careers, whether it is a trade school, a four-year university, a two-year college, or immediately entering the workforce.” Andrew Schroeder, CMS Principal stated. “Part of our mission at Cutter Morning Star High School is to provide support for all students in preparation for success in their future career pathways. Signing day is a day to highlight each student's commitment to their future pathway. Their commitment sets goals and expectations for their future, so when they walk out our doors, they are fully prepared to be successful chasing any dream he or she may have.

Celebrating Seniors Next Steps in Becoming Members of the Community
Stage said, “Cutter Morning Star looks forward to celebrating all of the students' choices and coming beside them as they take their next steps. Our desire is that each student simply chooses a path that best fits their needs and interests, and constitutes a foundation for a fulfilling and rewarding career while positively contributing to our community.”
