Cutter Morning Star High School Dear students and parents, It has been an interesting year to say the least. As the year winds down I want to take the opportunity to thank the teachers and students for the hard work they have put in to make this first semester a success. I hope that everyone takes the opportunity to relax and enjoy their families over the break. We all need to recharge so that we can have a strong second semester of the school year. I want to wish our community, families, and staff a happy and hopeful new year. I have shared a couple of things that I want our students and families to be aware of and as reminders moving into the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year. Remote level of success: Students who have failed 2 or more courses for the first semester will be required to return to campus for onsite learning for the remainder of the school year beginning January 4, 2021. We feel this is the best option for our students. We feel that being onsite will give our students a better opportunity to be successful and will allow our teachers to focus on specific needs and areas that our students may need help in. Please be sure if your child meets this criteria that they report to school on January 4, 2021 Onsite students who are failing 2 or more courses at mid-term or 9 weeks may be required to attend after school Academic Hall Monday through Thursday from 3:30-4:30 until they raise their grade(s) to a c level or better. If you are in athletics or any other extracurricular activity, you must attend. Virtual Attendance update. In order for STUDENTS to be counted Present for any and all virtual Classes: General Guidelines and Expectations: All Virtual Students must log in to their Virtual Classes each day. All Virtual Students must communicate in some way with their teacher(teachers) each day. This could be an e-mail, post, virtual meet, etc. All Virtual Students must complete their assignments as directed by their teacher(teachers) each day * (The Building Principal has the discretion to determine if a student should be counted absent based on the above criteria). * More specific guidelines and expectations may be added by grade level or courses as we continue to advance our virtual learning program. In addition, students not meeting these expectations will be required to return to school for onsite instruction. Note: It is important to understand that students who are remote learners and students who are onsite will be expected to maintain the same pace of work. This means that students must meet deadlines and turn in their assignments as requested by their teachers. Students do not need to put off doing their work for 2 or 3 weeks and try to do it all at one time and then turn it in. This puts an added level of stress on our teachers to have to go back and grade work that is past deadline and already been turned in and graded. We expect our students to keep up with their educational responsibilities. If our students and teachers work together everyone will benefit. Once again, Thank everyone for your support and cooperation. Have a Happy New Year!!!

Parents of Cutter Morning Star students: If you have a child and you drop them off and pick them up for school please do this through the Car Rider line in Front of the High School. Please do not drop them off and pick them up in the student parking lot. This creates a potentially dangerous situation as students exit the building to go to their cars. The student parking lot is for students and is not to be used as a loading and unloading zone. After you pick up your child please exit the campus by turning left onto Spring Street. Please do not turn through the student parking lot and do not exit through the back of the school in the Bus Lane. The Bus lane is not an exit, it is for loading and unloading bus riders. Please follow the procedures we mapped out at the beginning of the school year. Our number 1 priority is to the care and safety of our kids. Thank you for your cooperation and help with this matter.

Semester Test: There has been a change in plans regarding semester test and what was put in the newsletter. Due to the number of students who are at home at this time we will not be giving a semester test. If a student is in a Virtual Arkansas class with Mrs. Watkins, has an AP class, or College Algebra and Comp class they will have to take their semester test for those classes. For students who are Face to Face or Virtual through Canvas they will go by the semester test schedule that we have already set up. If Student's have an A they will be exempt. If student's have anything below an A for any class they will have to be here and do any make up work or other type of work that their teacher has for them to do in order to raise their grade. We will follow normal semester testing procedures. Students will not be allowed to come and go, they will have to check out through the office and can only do so if they have raised their grade to an A. EXAMPLE: If a student has to be here first period and has an A in second Period but has to be here the remainder of they day, they will not be allowed to check out for that one period. If they do not have an A they have to do work for the scheduled period they are in according to the schedule. This is a great opportunity for our students to raise their grades and catch up on some skills they may missed or are behind on. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and support. Matt Carter Cutter Morning Star High School.

School picture retakes for Pre-K thru 11th grade are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021. Please note the retake day is only for those students that did not get their picture taken in October. For those of you that have been patiently waiting for the school picture proofs or ordered packets, they should be in soon. I had to re-order them due to the package being lost in the mail. We apologize for any inconvenience in that matter. As soon as we receive the proofs and packets, we will be sending them home with students. Thank you,
